Help your rider find you: a guide to good landmarks
, 1 min read
Many homes in Zimbabwe have no visible house number. A good landmark can save ten minutes and keep your food hot.
A rider can follow a map to your street, but the last hundred metres are where deliveries slow down. Gates look alike, house numbers are missing or hidden, and the person who knows the way is waiting inside. A good landmark solves that.
What makes a good landmark
- Easy to see from the road. A shop, school, church, clinic, filling station or a large tree is better than something only neighbours know.
- Close to your gate. "Opposite the Avondale shops car park" beats "near Avondale".
- Specific about your gate. Say the colour and type: "black sliding gate with a green post box".
Examples that work
- Second house after the Spar, blue gate on the left.
- Opposite the primary school main entrance, cream wall with a white gate.
- Corner house next to the church, ask the guard for flat 3.
A few more tips
- Keep your phone on. Your rider will call when close.
- If there is a guard or intercom, add the name or flat number in the delivery instructions.
- Save your address with its landmark, so you only type it once.
