Why we are building Dishi
, 1 min read
Ordering food in Zimbabwe should be as easy as cooking it is hard. Here is what we are fixing, and how.
Ask anyone in Zimbabwe how they order food and you will hear the same story. Find a number on a flyer or a Facebook page, send a WhatsApp, wait for a reply, ask the price, ask again whether they deliver to your area, then explain the way to your gate. Sometimes it works. Often the food arrives cold, or not at all.
On the other side are some of the best cooks in the country, from busy takeaways in town to family-run restaurants serving sadza and stew. Many of them lose customers every day simply because those customers cannot find them.
What we are building
Dishi brings it all together in one place:
- Real menus with clear prices in US dollars, including every fee before you pay.
- Payment the way people in Zimbabwe actually pay: cash on delivery, or mobile money and cards.
- Delivery addresses built around landmarks, not just street numbers.
- Order tracking from the restaurant to your gate.
- Real people to help when you need it, at hello@orderdishi.com.
Built carefully
We are building Dishi with security at its heart. Your details are protected by design, payments are confirmed with the payment provider before any order goes to a restaurant, and we will never ask you for a PIN or code.
We are launching across Zimbabwe, not just one city, with iPhone and Android apps on the way. If you run a licensed restaurant, takeaway or bakery and want to be part of it, we would love to hear from you.
